FINE EXAMPLE OF A KARL JOHAN PERIOD SECRETAIRE WHICH WAS SWEDEN''S TAKE ON THE FRENCH EMPIRE AND THE GERMAN BIEDERMEIER STYLE MOVEMENTS.
RECTANGULAR TOP WITH ELEGANT STEPPED CORNICE, VENEERED IN A TIGER BIRCH WHICH IS CUT TO HIGHLIGHT THE GRAIN. TOP DRAWER PARTIALLY PULLS OUT AND THE DRAWER FRONT DROPS DOWN TO FORM A WRITING SURFACE, THE REST OF THE DRAWER INTERIOR IS FULLY FITTED WITH 2 BANKS OF 3 DRAWERS FLANKING A CENTRAL LOCKABLE TABERNACLE. 3 FURTHER DRAWERS VENEERED IN STRIKING MATCHED TIGER BIRCH. ALL RAISED ON BLOCK FEET.
