This late Regency English partners desk is made from dark brown rosewood and stands at 81 cm high, 147 cm wide, and 91 cm deep. The piece comprises a top section with a leather inset writing surface and twin drawer pedestals, each fitted with three frieze drawers over four pedestal drawers. Every drawer is mounted with round turned wooden knobs and key escutcheons. The structure rests on carved fluted bun feet, and the desk separates into three sections including the top and two pedestals. In a contemporary home, this partners desk serves as a practical workspace in a study or home office. The double-sided configuration allows two people to work opposite one another, while the numerous drawers provide ample storage for stationery and documents. The dark wood finish and classical Regency lines suit traditional or transitional interiors, functioning as a commanding centrepiece in a home library.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying and fading, polish periodically with natural beeswax, and clean the leather top using a slightly damp cloth followed by a specialised leather conditioner.

Position the desk centrally in a study or library space to highlight its double-sided construction, paired with a structured leather chair and clean architectural lighting to balance modern function with historical scale.

Authentic pieces display distinct grain patterns characteristic of Dalbergia species, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer boxes, original brass locks, and natural age-related patination across surfaces and drawer handles.

High-grade timbers such as rosewood, mahogany, and walnut were predominantly used, paired with gold-tooled leather writing surfaces, brass locks, and hand-dovetailed pine or oak drawer linings.

Designed in 19th-century Britain, a partners desk is a large freestanding writing desk crafted to allow two people to work facing each other comfortably. They typically feature drawers or cupboards on both opposing sides.
