Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chuval is a traditional large storage bag crafted by nomadic Turkmen tribes, primarily the Tekke tribe, in Central Asia. These textiles were essential components of yurt life, used for holding household items during migrations and as decorative hangings inside the dwelling.

Chuvals were hand-woven using locally sourced sheep wool for both the pile and the foundation. The front face features asymmetric hand-knotted pile displaying tribal motifs, whilst the reverse consists of a flat-woven plain weave backing to secure stored contents.

Authentic pieces exhibit dense knotting, supple wool, and saturated colours derived from natural plant and insect dyes, such as madder red. They feature specific geometric crests called guls, arranged in structured rows, along with traditional selvage finishings and intact plain-weave backings.

These versatile textiles can be mounted on a wall as textural art, draped over the back of a sofa, or floor-layered over a neutral base carpet. They are frequently used to introduce rich colour tones and historical character to modern spaces.

Keep wool textiles away from direct sunlight to prevent colour fading. Clean gently using a suction-only vacuum or soft brush, avoid harsh chemical treatments, and store in a dry environment with moth protection.
