Here we have an exceptional Charles II Oak chest of drawers c1680. As you can see the colour and patina of this chest is remarkable. This is one of the most original chests we have had. There is a two plank top which is pegged. There is a single top drawer with wonderful geometric moulding and single brass drop pulls. The drawers have thick chunky dovetail joints and thick side linings to allow hung runners. The chest typically splits in two and is how it was made. The original hook and loop hand forged hardware is the the inside of the top and base which is something that is never retained. The base has two further drawers again with geometric moulded fronts. The whole sits of original stile feet. There are panelled sides and panelled back. This would have been an expensive chest when made and the quality of it is why it has stood the test of time.
