A very handsome double pine wardrobe, dating from the mid to late 1800s.
It features two beautifully panelled doors above two practical lower drawers. The doors are mounted on traditional external hinges, allowing them to open fully — a very useful and practical detail. The large original catches remain in place, adding to the wardrobe’s authentic period charm.
Originally painted, the piece has since been stripped and wax-finished. While the finish is in good overall condition, it would benefit from a fresh coat of wax to enhance and revive the wood. The interior is currently in bare wood, and although a replacement timber strip has been fitted to the back (this can be stained to match if desired), the old shelf supports can be removed if you’d prefer to reconfigure the space.
Both drawers slide smoothly and operate well, though a small adjustment may be made so they sit perfectly flush. A pair of matching key plates can also be fitted to the drawer fronts for a more balanced
...appearance if desired.
The wardrobe dismantles into two main sections for delivery, splitting vertically down the centre (as originally designed). This makes moving it upstairs or through tight spaces much easier — we simply recommend checking the half-width measurement against your stairway or access points.
With an internal depth of 19'', it should comfortably accommodate most clothing, including jackets, shirts, and everyday hanging items.
The asking price of £897 includes any restoration required, a full clean-up, and re-waxing, along with the fitting of a new brass hanging rail at the top.
