Baluch rugs are hand-knotted floor coverings traditionally made by nomadic and semi-nomadic Baluchi tribes originating from the borderlands of Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, known for their deep colours and geometric motifs.

These traditional pieces feature hand-spun sheeps wool pile knotted onto wool or cotton foundations, often utilizing natural vegetable dyes that produce rich tones of terracotta, indigo, and dark brown.

Authenticity is determined by examining the irregularity of the weave, the presence of natural abrash colour variations in the wool, hand-finished selvages, and traditional tribal iconography such as medallions and tree-of-life motifs.

A tribal textile provides warmth and texture when layered over hardwood flooring, placed beneath a minimalist coffee table, or displayed as a decorative wall hanging in a study or hallway.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without the beater bar, professional organic washing when necessary, and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to protect the natural dyes.
