Copeland Spode has a rich heritage in English pottery dating back to the late eighteenth century, renowned for introducing fine bone china and innovative glazing techniques that defined Victorian table settings.

These pieces were typically crafted from high-fired ceramic or bone china, featuring hand-applied cobalt blue glazes, intricate enamel detailing, and raised gilding applied by skilled artisans.

Authenticity is verified through makers marks, pattern numbers stamped or painted on the underside, crazing consistent with age, and the weight and translucency characteristic of period china.

An antique plate can be mounted on a wall using a secure brass hanger, displayed on a wooden stand upon a sideboard, or styled within a glass-fronted cabinet to add historical contrast to contemporary spaces.

Antique ceramics should be hand-washed gently in lukewarm water with mild soap when necessary, avoiding abrasive sponges, ultrasonic cleaners, and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to protect the gilding.
