Exceptional Longwy “Primavera” Art Deco Charger with Seagull Motif – France, circa 1930
 
A distinguished and beautifully designed Longwy Primavera Art Deco charger featuring a refined seagull motif — a superb example of French ceramic artistry from the early 20th century. The elegant composition captures the grace and movement of seagulls in flight, rendered with precision and highlighted by Longwy’s distinctive émaux cloisonnés enamel technique, known for its rich colour palette and glossy finish.
 
The Primavera line was created through a collaboration between Faďencerie de Longwy and Atelier Primavera, the progressive design studio of Paris’s famous department store Le Printemps. Founded in 1912, Primavera became a leading force in promoting modern French decorative arts, bringing together artists and designers to produce fresh, bold interpretations of traditional craftsmanship.
