Antique Afghan Ersari Turkmen chuval, probably by the Kizyl Ayak Turkmen.
Circa 1900.
A superb large chuval complete with its original plain weave back, the back is decorated to the upper part. The chuval face has 16 chuval guls seperated by minor guls with rams horn devices, there are purple silk highlights in the main guls and the minor guls, silk is also found in the border designs. The elem panel at the lower end is beautifully drawn with the classic Kizil Ayak shrubs or trees.
The chuval is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and full pile, the chuval has been opened at the sides for display.
