Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Twentieth-century British post-impressionist coastal painting is characterised by expressive brushwork, bold application of paint often using palette knives, and simplified geometric forms that capture atmospheric light across coastal landscapes.

Artists of this period frequently worked with oil or acrylic paints applied onto hardboard, masonite, or canvas board, using heavy impasto techniques to create texture.

Authentic works by Donald McIntyre typically feature his distinct initials DMC or full signature, a signature muted yet vibrant colour palette, structured impasto paint application, and subject matter focusing on coastal scenes in Scotland and Wales.

Coastal paintings style well when positioned above neutral wooden sideboards or consoles, allowing the natural blues, purples, and earth tones to complement mid-century modern or contemporary rustic decor.

Original oil paintings should be kept away from direct sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations, and high humidity. Dusting should be performed gently with a dry, soft-bristle brush without applying water or chemical solvent cleansers.
