Antique French Palais Royal Dinner Bell

The gilt metal crown mounted on an alabaster base with mother of pearl panels and bird finial. Circa 1850.
 
Height 12.5cm.
 
These ornate bells were popular luxury souvenirs sold in Paris, particularly within the Palais Royal district, and served multiple functions, from calling servants to dinner to announcing visitors at an entrance.
