A reverse glass print is an artwork painted or transferred onto the back of a glass sheet and viewed from the front, a popular technique in the 18th and 19th centuries.

These pieces typically utilise a flat pane of glass, oil or water-based pigments, metal leaf details, and a simple wooden or moulded frame for support.

Authentic pieces often show signs of age on the glass such as minor foxing, hand-lettered captions, early framing techniques, and oxidation of the backing layers.

Hang the piece on a dark, moody wall colour to highlight the intricate details, or pair it with traditional dark wood furnishings to create a classic study aesthetic.

Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading, maintain a stable indoor humidity level, and clean the glass gently with a dry microfibre cloth.
