We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, produced during the 1830s, acts as a transitional phase between Regency and early Victorian styles, characterised by robust proportions, classical motifs, and heavily figured mahogany veneers.

These pieces typically utilised solid pine or oak carcases lined with mahogany veneers, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawers and brass hardware, constructed entirely by hand before industrial manufacturing.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct timber shrinkage, hand-planed secondary woods on the interior backs and drawer linings, traditional shellac polish finishes, and construction hallmarks consistent with 1830s cabinet making.

A substantial wooden wardrobe serves as a dramatic focal point in a master bedroom or dressing room, contrasting effectively against neutral plastered walls and modern minimalist furniture.

Maintain stable relative humidity levels away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer splitting, and apply traditional beeswax periodically to nourish the timber and preserve the polished finish.
