FAQs

Antique landscape oil paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries typically feature expressive brushwork, naturalistic palettes, and atmospheric depictions of rural or river scenes.

Traditional pieces were crafted using stretched woven canvas or wooden panels, primed with gesso, and painted with pigment-rich linseed oil formulations.

Authenticity is identified through craquelure patterns in the dried paint layer, age-toned varnishes visible under ultraviolet light, and hand- forged stretcher frames or maker stamps.

An antique painting adds historical contrast to contemporary spaces when displayed on a neutral wall, illuminated by a dedicated picture light, or left unframed for a minimalist aesthetic.

Preservation requires avoiding direct sunlight, maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, and dusting gently with a soft, dry brush without applying chemical cleaners.
