Artist Biography
William John Botten Jenkins studied art at York and Leeds and had a varied career as an artist and artisan. After war service with the RAF, Jenkins worked for a time as an agricultural contractor in Wiltshire before switching to restoring old Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars with his lifelong friend Richard Lancefield. The two then switched to boat building and would later create a nature reserve at Carlton Miniott Park, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. During the 1930s and 1940s, Jenkins was a prolific painter in both oils and watercolours, selling many paintings to the US.
