Maud Raphael Jones (1862–1935)
Maud Raphael Jones was a British landscape and genre painter born in Bradford, Yorkshire, in 1862.
He worked primarily in oils and watercolours, specialising in atmospheric landscapes, rural scenes and pastoral subjects.

Jones exhibited widely during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, including at major London venues such as the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, the Royal Society of British Artists and numerous provincial exhibitions. His work is characterised by a sensitive treatment of light, seasonal atmosphere and the British countryside.

Although less widely known today than some of his contemporaries, Maud Raphael Jones’s paintings continue to attract collectors of British landscape art, with works appearing regularly at auction houses in the UK and internationally. His paintings are represented in public and private collections, and examples of his work have achieved strong prices at auction.

Important notice regarding frames – please read carefully.

Items which are presented in frames are usually the old original frames which came with the artwork. We would typically only remove the frames if they were severely broken or damaged. In line with our conservation ethos, we believe that a painting should be sold within its original setting rather than re-presenting in a contemporary mount & frame unless necessary. Customers also prefer to choose their own way of presenting their painting or engraving. Frames therefore WILL have wear, discolouration or damage in line with their age.

When we value and sell artwork, we provide the frame free. We do not accept liability for damage caused to frame in transit. We are more than happy to remove frames before posting at the customer’s request
