We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

During the Victorian era, advancements in industrial manufacturing led to the mass production of iron and brass beds, praised for their hygiene and durability compared to wooden frames.

Traditional beds from this period typically combine cast and wrought iron components with polished or lacquered brass finials, rails, and mountings.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-poured iron joints, maker stamps or registration numbers, heavy components, and signs of age such as minor pitting or oxidisation on the metal surfaces.

Pairing a dark metal bed frame with neutral linens, natural wood flooring, and minimalist decor creates a balanced focal point that bridges historical charm with contemporary design.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that can strip lacquered brass or damage painted iron surfaces.
