Imperial Russian silver gilt enamelware refers to decorative and utilitarian silver objects produced in Russia prior to 1917, featuring finely worked enamel decoration over a gold-washed silver surface.

These items are typically crafted from 84 zolotnik silver (equivalent to 875 fineness), fire-gilt, and decorated using cloisonne or plique-a-jour enamel techniques with finely soldered wire compartments.

Authentic pieces bear traditional Russian hallmarks, including the 84 zolotnik standard mark, makers marks in Cyrillic script, and sometimes town or assay master marks from cities like Moscow or St Petersburg.

Display the piece on a mantelpiece, side table, or within a glass-fronted cabinet where its vibrant enamel colours and metallic lustre can catch the light as a focal point.

Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid chemical silver dips, abrasive polishes, and immersion in water, as these can damage the delicate enamel work and the surface gilding.
