French neoclassical metalwork, popular during the 18th and 19th centuries, draws heavily on classical Greek and Roman motifs, featuring symmetrical designs, mythological figures, and refined bas-relief panels.

These pieces were typically cast in bronze or brass using the lost-wax method, often finished with gilt, ormolu, or patination, and detailed with hand-chiselled bas-relief panels.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit heavy construction, hand-finished chasing details on the metalwork, natural age-related patination, and cast-in construction marks rather than modern welding.

Place the piece centrally on a large dining table, sideboard, or mantelpiece as a standalone focal point, or use it to display curated objects like glass spheres or dried botanicals.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using chemical polishes or water, which can strip the historic patina or gilt finish from the metal surface.
