A bow front chest features a convex curved front, a design that gained popularity during the late Georgian and Regency periods to soften the rooms angles and maximise internal drawer space.

Authentic period pieces are typically constructed from solid mahogany or feature mahogany veneers applied to secondary woods such as oak or pine, often utilising hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction.

Authentication involves examining the drawer joints for hand-cut dovetailing, checking for timber shrinkage and oxidisation consistent with age, and inspecting the backboards and drawer linings for period-correct secondary woods.

This item functions effectively as a focal storage piece in a bedroom or hallway, where its warm timber tones can contrast against neutral modern walls or complement other rich wooden textures.

Protect the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent warping or fading, and maintain the finish by applying natural beeswax periodically while avoiding silicone-based polishes.
