FAQs

Mid-century impressionist landscape paintings typically feature loose brushwork, vibrant use of light and colour, and en plein air depictions of natural scenes such as rivers, fields, and rural architecture.

Artists during this period frequently used oil paints applied to prepared wood panels, hardboard, or artist boards, often sealed with a protective varnish.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the consistency of the signature with known artist exemplars, inspecting the ageing of the oil medium under ultraviolet light, and verifying the backing board and framing materials typical of the era.

An original oil painting can be integrated into a modern interior by mounting it in a period-appropriate or minimalist frame and placing it on a focal wall with dedicated picture lighting to highlight its texture and palette.

Preserve oil paintings by keeping them away from direct sunlight and high humidity, avoiding chemical cleaners on the painted surface, and ensuring stable indoor temperatures to prevent warping of the backing board.
