1920s Silver Polhem Pocket Watch and Chain

1920s silver Polhem pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a good quality Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the name Polhem. The brand name Polhem was registered on at least three occasions by different companies, twice in Sweden and once in Switzerland, but this particular movement ties up to Richard Vogt of Biel in Switzerland who registered the mark in 1928. The movement is protected by an inner cover.

The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and has Continental .800 silver marks. The bezel and hinged case back are in lovely condition, the back having engine turned detail and an owner’s initials EH. The sides have a few marks and a little unevenness.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The signed white enamel dial looks good to the naked eye, there is a short faint hairline towards the edge of the dial, between 7 and 8. Original hands.

The watch comes with a single silver chain, 32cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Each of the links has the lion silver mark. There is also a silver fob with rose gold highlights, hallmarked for 1912. The chain and fob weigh 46g.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
