Rare Kerr & Binns Worcester Dessert Plate Depicting Dargan Castle, C. 1852–62

19th century
Description

A highly decorative and historically significant dessert plate from the Kerr & Binns period, showcasing the firm’s exceptional artistry. The finely hand-painted central landscape depicts charming pastoral view of Dargan Castle and its surrounding grounds, believed to be the birthplace of the Duke of Wellington.

The plate’s ornate pierced rim is richly gilded and beautifully painted with garlands of flowers and elegant birds in flight, perfectly encapsulating the Rococo Revival spirit of mid-19th century porcelain.

Marked by Kerr & Sons of Dublin (representative of the Kerr and Binns Worcester in 1852-62) and handwritten title to reverse, this piece is an excellent example of top-tier Worcester porcelain during the firm’s golden years (1852–62).

Diameter: 25 cm (9.75 in)

Condition: Excellent with minor clean glaze crazing, no damage or repairs.

Declaration
