Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chinese export furniture from the early 20th century consists of traditional Asian forms adapted for Western buyers, often constructed from dense dark hardwoods like rosewood or hongmu and decorated with elaborate mother-of-pearl inlays, relief carvings, and natural marble panels.

These benches were typically crafted using dense tropical hardwoods such as rosewood, zitan, or hongmu, inlaid with hand-carved iridescent mother-of-pearl (nacre) shells, and frequently fitted with inset panels of figured Dali marble, often termed dream stone.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut, slightly irregular mother-of-pearl fragments fitted precisely into hand-chiseled recesses, alongside natural Dali marble panels displaying organic grey and white patterns resembling misty landscapes.

A Chinese export bench can be positioned as a statement focal point in a large entrance hall, foyer, or grand living area, paired with simple modern lighting or neutral textiles to highlight the intricate dark wood and nacre detail.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoid placing the item in direct sunlight or near radiator heat sources to prevent wood shrinkage, and refrain from using harsh chemical cleansers that could loosen the shell inlay or dull the natural marble polish.
