An early North West Persian carpet with a beautifully delicate, all over design woven in pale organic colours on soft madder ground flanked by beautiful mid blue borders. It is unclear exactly where these were woven, some scholars suggesting Joshlaghan while others suggest Mahal. The design is certainly found on many later Mahal carpets. Though complete, the carpet has numerous small repairs and have areas of light tinting, not too bad considering this one is nearly 200 years old. It remains a solid carpet suitable for light floor use.
