We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

An antique Hastrud runner rug, dating from 1880 in the Persian traditional style, brings handcrafted warmth to an English Country House interior. Woven from wool and cotton with natural dyes, the piece measures 357 cm high, 99 cm wide, and 1 cm deep. The runner displays a dark navy blue field filled with geometric medallions, stylized animal figures, and floral motifs, framed by a wide ivory border with sawtooth edges and pale pink flanking stripes. The visible condition includes a fat pile, original end and side finishes, and little or no repair, with visible tones of red, light blue, and brown throughout the intricate tribal patterns. The length suits placement in a hallway, long corridor, or gallery space within a home today.

Hashtrud rugs originate from Northwest Persia and are characterised by bold, angular geometric motifs, central medallion sequences, and a durable hand-knotted wool pile. They often share stylistic traits with neighbouring Heriz and Bakshaish rug traditions.

Traditional Persian runners are constructed using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. Dyes are historically derived from natural plant and mineral sources, offering subtle colour variations across the weave.

Authentic antique runners display slight weave irregularities, soft abrash colour changes from natural dyes, and a pattern that shows clearly on the underside. The presence of hand-finished selvedges and integrated fringe ends further indicates genuine hand construction.

A long Persian runner serves as an ideal focal point along dark timber or stone floor corridors and entryways. Combining tribal geometric patterns with clean-lined contemporary furniture creates an engaging textural contrast.

Regular gentle vacuuming without a rotating motorised brush bar prevents fibre damage. Professional specialist cleaning is recommended for deep stains, and periodic rotation helps distribute foot traffic and light exposure evenly.
