Description

Absolutely lovely Irish frame with very nice curved corners, bridging the aesthetic gap between more, stereotypically of course, ‘masculine’ straight lines, and ‘feminine’ curves and arches. Very nice diamond shape in the panel with a lovely floral central casting.

Very attractive triangular clamps and castings, with some unusual features such as the rectangular castings which connect the panel to the posts.

Whole frame shot blasted and primed prior to hand pant finish in Little Greene’s Invisible Green colour, heavy dark waxed and buffed well to protect and shine.

FAQs

Iron and brass bedframes gained widespread popularity during the Victorian era following the Industrial Revolution, when mass production techniques made metalworking more accessible and hygienic alternatives to wooden beds.

These frames are constructed primarily from cast and wrought iron components, featuring hand-poured joint connections, decorative metal castings, and tubular iron framing designed to provide structural rigidity.

Authentic period pieces typically display hand-threaded fasteners, minor surface imperfections from early casting methods, heavier gauge metal than modern reproductions, and accumulated layers of historic painted finishes.

Pair the industrial character of the metal framework with soft, neutral textiles, crisp linen bedding, and natural wood flooring to create a balanced scheme that bridges historical charm and modern minimalism.

Preserve the surface by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners, and periodically checking structural joints to ensure stability without compromising the original finish.
