Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

A derby sample plate is a historic ceramic piece utilised by decorators to test porcelain glazes, pigments, and painting techniques before applying them to production tableware.

These items were typically crafted from fine bone china or soft-paste porcelain, finished with hand-painted mineral pigments and glazed finishes.

Authenticity is generally determined by factory marks, paste consistency, hand-painted brushwork quality, and characteristic colour palettes associated with the period.

Such pieces can be displayed on specialised plate stands within glass cabinets, mounted securely on walls as art, or featured on mantelpieces as focal points.

Historic porcelain requires gentle dusting with a soft, dry cloth and should never be washed in a dishwasher or exposed to abrasive cleaners to protect the glaze and pigments.
