Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Chinese cloisonne jardiniere is an ornamental vessel crafted using a metalworking technique where thin copper or brass wires are flattened and soldered onto a metal base to form intricate design compartments. These compartments, or cloisons, are filled with coloured enamel pastes, fired at high temperatures, and polished smooth to create detailed decorative patterns.

Qing dynasty pieces typically utilise a copper or bronze alloy body fitted with delicate brass or copper wirework. The cloisons are filled with vitreous glass pastes coloured with mineral oxides, subjected to multiple firings, ground flat with stones, and finished with gilding on exposed metal rims.

Authentic period examples often display slight pitting or pinholes in the enamel surface caused by trapped gases during traditional kiln firing. Weight is another indicator, as older pieces feature heavier cast base metals, hand-applied gilded wires, and subtle signs of natural wear or oxidisation around unenameled rims.

These decorative vessels serve as strong focal points on sideboards, foyer tables, or within empty room corners when paired with traditional wood stands. Their vibrant polychrome surfaces contrast well against neutral walls, contemporary minimalist furniture, or rich hardwood joinery.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive pastes, or submerging the piece in water, as moisture can enter micro-fissures in the enamel or cause oxidisation of the internal metal body.
