Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Meiji period cloisonne enamelwork refers to Japanese decorative metal items produced between 1868 and 1912, characterized by copper or brass wire compartments filled with glass enamel pastes and fired at high temperatures.

Craftsmen solder thin metal strips onto a metal base to form design outlines, fill the resulting cells with coloured enamel pastes, fire the vessel in a kiln, and polish the surface smooth.

Authentic pieces exhibit fine wire detailing, precise enamel application without extensive pitting, traditional flora and fauna iconography, and natural age oxidisation on exposed metal rims or bases.

A cloisonne bowl functions as a focal centerpiece on a dark wood sideboard, mantelpiece, or coffee table, pairing well with neutral backdrops to accentuate its intricate polychrome details.

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleansers or water immersion, which can damage cracked enamel or cause metal oxidisation beneath the surface.
