Condition Report:
This is a fine quality antique Victorian school desk, for young children, constructed from cast iron and oak, with a hinged seat and desktop, by Fishers School Furniture Company, circa 1890 in excellent original condition. The kid’s Victorian desk has been cleaned and wax polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There is a wonderful aged bow to the seat, which is testament to the age and use the desk has received. The inkwell holders retain the original oak caps (the desk does not come with inkwells). The cast iron frame, desktop and seat hinges are all in excellent original working condition. There are no stains or scratches to the top of the desk. The Victorian school desk boasts a lovely mellow golden oak colour and patination; which can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This children’s’ desk is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
