Where oh where to begin! This thing is impressive in every single way, firstly, it must weight 200kgs, it is immense being solid metal and I mean solid, the whole thing looks to be nickel plated chrome and it was done a long time ago based on the patina. The main body depicts brick pattern castle turrets which are topped with cylindrical columns, the central footrest is an old piece of wonderfully patinaed oak, the side seats are English leather in Regency green

The seats have been newly upholstered in the finest Italian Cattle Hide leather, they have then been hand dyed six times, antiqued, sealed waxed down and polished

This fender would have been made with no expense spared for a grand castle or stately home, I can't emphasize enough just how unique, important and impressive it is to behold, I am currently thinking of buying a new house with a grand old Victorian fireplace just so I can fit this in!

Condition wise is period perfect, the chrome work has aged, it has some marks etc, the leather is all new, really its just perfect

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in Victorian England, club fenders were designed to surround open fireplace hearths in billiards rooms and gentlemans clubs, providing supplementary seating close to the heat source while retaining ash within the hearth perimeter.

Traditional club fenders are constructed using solid brass, steel, or chrome-plated iron frameworks, integrated with wooden sub-bases and leather-upholstered corner seats often finished with brass studding.

Authentic Victorian examples feature heavy cast or wrought metal joinery, hand-turned or architectural upright columns, original horsehair or coconut fibre seat padding, and natural patination or wear consistent with age.

A club fender can be placed directly on a stone or tile hearth to anchor a focal fireplace, providing structured perimeter seating in period drawing rooms, formal libraries, or contemporary living spaces.

Metal elements should be dusted with a microfibre cloth and cleaned using non-abrasive metal cleaners, while leather seats require periodic treatment with dedicated leather balms to maintain flexibility and prevent cracking.
