The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a beautiful engraved inscription, ‘Presented to Henry Edward Arthur Ford on his leaving Old England by friends who appreciate his invariable courtesy during the years he was at the Crystal Palace Hotel, Dulwich 1894’.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop.

The front of the case has a small central lens, which has some fairly light marking, surrounded by Roman numerals. There is a small indentation to the front but not serious at all. There is quite a lot of unevenness to the back of the watch.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front of the case. Inside, there is a glass lens which is in lovely condition (some reflection showing in the photos).
The dial is in lovely condition. Lever set hands including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
