FAQs

During the Victorian era, advancements in industrial manufacturing allowed for the mass production of iron and brass beds, praised for their hygiene and durability compared to wooden frames.

These beds typically combine a sturdy cast iron or tubular iron frame with solid brass finials, mounts, and top rails, often featuring fitted joint connections.

Authentic pieces often show natural patination on the brass, heavy cast components, hand-threaded fixings, and construction methods characteristic of 19th-century metalworking.

Pair the metallic finish with neutral linens, textured throws, and minimalist bedroom decor to create a balanced contrast between historic character and modern simplicity.

Dust regularly with a dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical polishes on aged brass to preserve its original patina, occasionally applying a light microcrystalline wax if necessary.
