Muted dyes of green, pale blue and red tones on this fabulous antique Bidjar runner in very high pile all over and in great original condition, seeing as it is so long it has stood the test of time. These antique runners are known for their strength and durability, mainly due to the tough wool they used and the sturdy construction of usually four wefts. This runner is a very classical repeating Bidjar design, having repeating elongated medallions running its length.
The main off white border is uplifting and woven with floral motifs and leaves in lovely natural colours. The weaver has signed this runner at the top too, and we can see a date written too, which we believe to read 1910. This dates the runner to around 114 years old, remarkable to see and always a wonderful addition.
Home visits or a showroom visit can be organised to view this runner up close and are very welcome. Contact us to arrange a viewing, we would love to help you.
