p This is a highly decorative, Antique Imperial Stone China (ironstone), plate by John Ridgway, dating to the William IV or early Victorian period of the 19th century, circa 1830-37. /p
p The plate has been carefully hand painted in bold colourful enamels decorated with flowers, gilding and cobalt blue border with a central chinoiserie pattern showing a Chinese family travelling by boat. /p
p The pattern number is 5057. On back side the Royal Arms Mark with initials JR on a ribbon under the shield. /p
p John Ridgway operated at his father’s celebrated Cauldon Place works, Shelton, Hanley, England, between 1830-1856, producing some fine porcelain and stone china of excellent quality. /p
