This Georgian sideboard dates from the eighteenth century. It takes the form of a freestanding wooden serving table made from mahogany, featuring brass oval handles, a central arched apron, square tapered legs, flame wood veneers, fiddleback mahogany to the front, stringing detail, dovetails, and an excellent patina. The rich brown timber displays a polished finish with natural grain variations. Dimensions are 153 cm wide, 89 cm high, 62 cm deep at the edge, and 71 cm deep at the centre. In a contemporary home, this item suits a dining room or a spacious hallway as a serving station or display surface. It provides storage behind its multiple drawers while serving as a decorative surface for lamps, decorative bowls, or everyday items.

Developed during the late 18th century by cabinetmakers such as George Hepplewhite and Thomas Sheraton, Georgian sideboards feature symmetrical drawer layouts, tapered legs, and decorative timber veneers intended for formal dining service.

Authentic 18th-century sideboards utilise dense mahogany timber, flame mahogany veneers, boxwood stringing, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, and cast brass oval drop handles.

Authentic pieces display irregular hand-cut dovetail joints, pine or oak secondary drawer lining, natural wood shrinkage lines, period-correct brass hardware, and square tapered legs terminating in spade feet.

Position the piece along an entryway or dining wall beneath contemporary artwork, pairing the dark timber tones with minimalist ceramic vessels or modern brass lighting.

Dust surfaces using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish sparingly once or twice yearly, avoiding chemical aerosol sprays and direct light exposure.
