A rustic and decorative antique Mahal carpet with a rare natural dye background, using faded and varied terracotta tones for the main border. This frames the main field colours well and presents it as a light carpet with warmth, lovely pale blues for the small motifs and black/brown dyes for the leaves. The black/brown dyes we can see corrosion due to the carpets age and this is down to the iron properties in the wool, over 120 plus years it has oxidised and corroded. This adds an embossed effect and adds even more character to this ancient looking Mahal.
Minimal wear visible in some areas, but no major repairs or damage, all in all it is looking very good indeed and with lots of soft wool pile showing. Please view all the images to see the condition up close.
A beautiful antique carpet for a drawing room, bedroom, study or entrance hall, it literally can be used in any room. We would supply sturdy anti-slip underlay with this carpet, to aid its strength on the floor and this also helps preserve antique carpets too. As wear is more-often caused by a carpet moving around on a floor, creating creases which over time can turn into wear.
