Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency neoclassical furniture is defined by symmetry, straight lines, and inspiration from ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian architecture. Popular features include reeded or fluted columns, lion-paw feet, classical friezes, and rich timber veneers.

Craftsmen predominantly used dense West Indian or South American mahogany, favoured for its dark hue and structural stability. Secondary woods such as pine or oak were used for internal drawer linings and structural framing, often finished with flame mahogany veneers.

Authentic Regency pieces feature hand-cut joinery, original patination, hand-turned or hand-carved reeding, and signs of shrinkage aligned with natural timber ageing over two centuries. Hardware, when present, typically shows hand-cast brass work with era-appropriate patination.

Place the table against a focal wall or within an entrance hall to showcase its architectural profile. Balance the dark mahogany tones by pairing it with neutral wall colours, structured contemporary ceramics, or an oversized gilt mirror overhead.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth along the grain. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood and preserve the surface patina, avoiding silicone spray cleaners and direct sunlight or moisture exposure.
