Classical bronze figures gained immense popularity during the Grand Tour period of the 18th and 19th centuries, when collectors sought miniature reproductions of classical antiquities to display in their homes.

These pieces were typically crafted using the lost-wax casting method (cire perdue) and composed of copper and tin alloys, finished with hand-applied patination ranging from deep brown to verdigris.

Authentic pieces often exhibit fine chisel work (chiseling after casting to refine details), natural age-related patination, and heavy mass relative to size, without modern machine markings.

Place the sculpture on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or desk where its tactile surface and classical form can act as a sophisticated focal point, contrasting against clean, modern architectural lines.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using chemical cleaners, water, or abrasive polishes, which can strip the historic patination and damage the metal.
