Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Eighteenth-century Dutch furniture design is renowned for intricate marquetry, geometric inlays, and sophisticated space-saving mechanisms such as tambour doors. Craftsmen frequently utilised exotic veneers and fruitwood inlays to create ornate decorative surfaces.

These pieces typically feature solid oak or pine carcases veneered with walnut, mahogany, or rosewood. Inlay details were created using contrasting woods like satinwood, boxwood, and fruitwoods, complemented by cast brass handles and escutcheons.

Authentic period inlay exhibits hand-cut irregularities, subtle shrinkage lines in the veneer, and natural hand-saw marks on the underside or structural framework. Original cast brass hardware and hand-dovetailed drawer joints further verify period construction.

A historical inlaid credenza acts as a focal architectural anchor in modern spaces, pairing well with contemporary artwork mounted above or minimal lighting to create a refined contrast between period craftsmanship and modern lines.

Maintain a stable relative humidity to prevent wood shrinkage and veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a clean, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly along the grain, avoiding silicone-based commercial sprays.
