This eighteenth-century Qing Qianlong period plate is an antique Chinese porcelain decorative piece from circa 1770, styled with blue and white hand-painted motifs. The circular vessel displays a glassy light blue glaze and features a central river landscape depicting mountains, trees, water elements, sailboats, and a double blue circle. The rim incorporates a diaper pattern framing detailed floral border motifs. One hairline crack is present on the surface, alongside a well-cut foot rim. The plate has a diameter of 32 cm. In a contemporary home, this decorative plate suits placement on a sideboard top to add traditional character to an English country house interior. The porcelain item works well as a display piece in a dining room, living area, or hallway, integrating smoothly with curated collections of antique ceramics and tabletop accessories.

18th-century Chinese export porcelain refers to ceramics manufactured in China specifically for European and Western markets, featuring hand-painted underglaze cobalt blue designs depicting landscapes, flora, or traditional figures.

Crafted from refined kaolin clay and petuntse, items were hand-painted with cobalt oxide before being coated in a clear glaze and fired at high temperatures to produce a durable, translucent vitreous finish.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit foot-rim wear, subtle variations in hand-painted execution, pinholes or light texture within the glaze, and the characteristic tonal depth of antique cobalt blue.

Displaying plates on brass stands atop dark wood sideboards or arranging them as wall groupings creates architectural contrast against contemporary painted backgrounds.

Dust carefully using a soft microfibre cloth or brush, and clean with lukewarm water and a neutral detergent when required, avoiding abrasive sponges and bleach.
