Below the door there are two cnadlestick-slides to allow light reflected from the mirror to light the room and the work surface below. The bureau base has a mitred-edge flap which encloses a fitted interior with drawers, pigeon holes and small compartments. This sits above four long drawers all fitted with the original rococco fire-gilded handles which are raised on ogee shaped bracket feet.

A very fine and original example with illustrious history. Sometimes called a ''Ladies Cabinet'' these are highly sort after, classic pieces of traditional English, Georgian furniture.
