Large Art Deco Bronze Figure of a Standing Female Nude Dancer

1900 - 1920
Description

A stunning Art Deco bronze figure of a standing female nude dancer with a scarf draped over her arms. A finely detailed and hand finished cast showing intricate detail. The patinated bronze figure stands on one foot on tiptoe with her other leg elegantly raised . The stylised scarf is enhanced with gold colouring and hangs to the floor. The figure stands on a large marble base. It is unsigned. A beautiful decorative figure that would complement any décor and shows Art Deco sculpture at its finest. French c 1925. 47 cm tall including the base

Art Deco (1920-1930s) is a style of decorative arts which first emerged in France, characterised by its geometric style. Art Deco was the successor to Art Nouveau, and a key differentiator is the influence of cubism associated with iconic artists like Pablo Picasso. Deco influenced architectural design, such as the Chrysler Building in New York, furniture, jewellery, fashion, cars and even domestic objects such as vacuum cleaners. René Jules Lalique is considered one of the key influencers of the art deco movement. After a successful career making jewellery in the art nouveau style, he started to make press-moulded, glass vases in his factory in the Alsace region of France.

Excellent original condition. Light wear commensurate with age to figure. A small old repair to one side of the marble base and a minor chip to the base

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
