Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Staithes Group was an impressionist artists colony active in North Yorkshire between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their work typically features plein air landscapes, maritime subjects, and naturalistic still life compositions influenced by French Impressionism.

Oil paintings from this period were predominantly executed using oil-based pigments applied to stretched linen canvas or wooden panels. Frames were frequently crafted from carved wood or moulded plaster coated with gold leaf gilding or paint finish.

Authentic works often exhibit age-appropriate craquelure across the paint layer, natural darkening of the canvas backing, and hand-gilded or swept frames. Signatures located near the lower margins and original gallery labels on the reverse provide further verification.

A framed floral still life can be hung above a console table or fireplace mantel to create a refined focal point in a contemporary room. Positioning the artwork against a dark or muted background wall enhances the tones of the painted flowers.

Keep oil paintings away from direct sunlight, dampness, and high humidity to prevent fading, canvas sagging, or frame deterioration. Dust gently using a soft, dry camel-hair brush and avoid using chemical cleaners or water on the painted surface or gilded frame.
