Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Vacuum gently using a suction-only nozzle to prevent fiber damage, rotate the rug periodically to ensure even wear, and use a high-quality rug pad. Clean spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals.

A small tribal rug works well as a grounding accent in an entryway, draped over a wooden bench, layered atop neutral sisal flooring, or hung as wall art to add texture and visual interest.

Authentic pieces exhibit fine knotting, supple wool pile, natural abrash color variations, and geometric skirts (elem) at the ends. Older textiles feature vegetable dyes that age to soft, nuanced shades rather than harsh synthetic tones.

These rugs are woven using hand-spun wool for both the pile and structural foundation, knotted tightly using asymmetric (Persian) knots. Dyes were traditionally extracted from natural sources, such as madder root for red hues and indigo for dark blues.

Tekke Turkmen rugs originated among the Tekke tribe of Central Asia, primarily in present-day Turkmenistan. They are recognised for their precise knotting, deep red tones, and repeating octagonal tribal emblems known as gols.
