Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Art Deco sculptures from this era often feature stylized, elongated human forms and allegorical subjects. They commonly combine metal figures with multi-coloured geometric marble or onyx plinths, reflecting the modernist aesthetic of the 1920s and 1930s.

These pieces were typically cast in spelter, a zinc-based alloy, which was subsequently patinated, cold-painted, or electroplated to resemble bronze or silver. The figures were then mounted on architectural bases constructed from variegated marbles such as Portoro, Rouge Royal, or Belgian Black.

Authentic period pieces exhibit considerable weight due to the solid marble plinths and cast metal. Inspection of the underside typically reveals threaded rod fixings rather than modern adhesives, and the metal will feel cold to the touch with natural surface patination rather than uniform modern spray coatings.

An Art Deco sculpture acts as a strong focal point on a dark wood sideboard, mantelpiece, or console table. Pairing the item with clean geometric forms or contemporary lighting creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Dust the item regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or soft-bristled brush to clean intricate areas. Avoid water, chemical solvents, or abrasive cleaners on spelter, as these can remove the original patination, and clean the marble base only with specialized stone cleaners.
