Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

19th-century British equestrian oil paintings typically depict thoroughbreds, hunters, or working horses rendered with fine anatomical accuracy. Commissioned by landowners, these artworks often feature naturalistic British countryside settings, grooms, and detailed saddlery to document horse ownership.

Victorian oil paintings were primarily executed using hand-mixed oil pigments on stretched flax canvas or timber panels. Framed artworks from this era were traditionally set into moulded timber or gilded wood frames using natural resin varnishes to protect the paint layer.

Authentic period oil paintings exhibit natural age-related craquelure, slight yellowing or darkening of historical varnish, and hand-tacked canvas edges along the stretcher bars. The reverse side often reveals aged wood stretchers, oxidized canvas, or historical framing labels.

An antique equestrian canvas brings depth to contemporary schemes when positioned above a living room mantelpiece, dining room sideboard, or integrated into a gallery wall. Combining traditional artwork with clean-lined furniture creates an appealing contrast within country house and dark academia interiors.

Maintain antique oil paintings by hanging them away from direct sunlight, draughts, and radiator heat sources. Surface dust should only be removed using a dry, soft-bristled brush, while deep cleaning or varnish removal should be undertaken by a professional conservator.
