A watercolour painting uses pigments suspended in a water-based solution on paper support, often characterised by transparent washes and delicate colour blending.

Traditional framing for works on paper typically involves timber mouldings, protective glass, acid-free mounts, and wooden backing boards secured with traditional fixings.

Authenticity is assessed through paper stock characteristics, pigment ageing, artist signatures, handwritten inscriptions, and framing construction consistent with the period.

Original artworks add character when hung at eye level on neutral walls, complemented by directional picture lighting and simple framing to let the piece centre the rooms aesthetic.

Watercolours should be displayed away from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent paper degradation and pigment fading, using UV-filtering glass where possible.
