FAQs

Victorian iron and brass beds gained immense popularity during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, as mass production techniques made durable metal furniture accessible for domestic interiors.

These beds typically combine cast iron frames with polished brass spindles, knobs, and finials, often featuring porcelain or brass castors for mobility.

Authentic pieces usually feature heavy cast iron components, hand-threaded joints, authentic patina on the brass elements, and maker stamps or registration numbers from the period.

Pairing the metallic warmth and industrial lines of the bed with neutral linens and contemporary lighting creates a balanced focal point in a modern bedroom.

Clean the metal surfaces with a soft, dry cloth and use specialised non-abrasive brass cleaner sparingly to preserve the original finish without stripping the historical patina.
